Custom Trex Deck in Littleton, Colorado

Add a Deck of the Rockies recently transformed the outdoor living space of a Littleton, Colorado home with a spacious new 1,150-square-foot Trex composite deck. The homeowners had an older deck that had become dated and fallen into disrepair. Rather than continue repairing the existing structure, they decided it was time to tear it out and replace it with a modern deck designed around their home, landscaping, pool and outdoor lifestyle.

The goal was to create a large, attractive outdoor living area that complemented the home’s existing architecture while providing plenty of space for relaxing, dining and entertaining.

Trex Transcend Lineage Biscayne Decking

For the new deck, the homeowners selected Trex Transcend Lineage Biscayne decking. Approximately 1,150 square feet of Biscayne decking was used for the project, along with 240 linear feet of Trex Transcend Lineage Biscayne fascia.

Biscayne features a blend of light taupe and coastal brown hues, which made it an excellent choice for this Littleton home. The natural-looking colors coordinate beautifully with the home’s exterior colors, existing stonework and surrounding landscaping.

The result is a contemporary appearance that doesn’t overpower the home’s architecture. Instead, the deck looks like a natural extension of the house and backyard.

Westbury Aluminum and Glass Railing

The railing design was another important part of the project. The homeowners wanted a railing system that would complement the lighter tones of the decking while creating different looks around the deck.

We installed approximately 188 linear feet of Westbury Sandy Shore aluminum railing. The Sandy Shore finish features a light beige color and textured powder-coated finish that pairs particularly well with the Biscayne decking.

For the front portion of the deck, the homeowners selected traditional picket-style aluminum railing. Along the side, they wanted a more open appearance, so we installed approximately 43 linear feet of Westbury Veranda glass railing.

Combining aluminum pickets and glass panels gives the deck visual variety while maintaining a consistent railing style throughout the project.

A Large Outdoor Living Space Designed Around the Pool

At approximately 1,150 square feet, this is much more than a small sitting deck. The size gives the homeowners room to create multiple outdoor living areas rather than having every activity compete for the same space.

There is ample room for outdoor dining, seating and entertaining areas, while the deck also provides convenient access to the backyard swimming pool.

The combination of the large deck surface and strategically selected railing helps connect the house, deck, landscaping and pool into one cohesive outdoor living environment.

From a Dated Deck to a Modern Littleton Outdoor Living Area

Replacing the deteriorating deck gave these homeowners an opportunity to completely rethink how they use their backyard.

The combination of Trex Transcend Lineage Biscayne decking, matching Trex fascia, Westbury Sandy Shore aluminum railing and Westbury Veranda glass railing created the modern appearance they wanted while complementing the existing home and landscape.

It’s also a good example of how material colors and railing styles can be coordinated to make a new deck feel like it was designed as part of the original home rather than added later.
